“My stay at Hotel Zindel was excellent! The Harbor King Suite was perfect for my vacation and needs. Self check-in was easy and without incident. I enjoyed the staff, as they were both friendly & warm. Thanks Jeff and Stefani! The neighborhood is walkable with plenty of dining and food options. The area is a little sleepy during the day and more lively after 4pm. It's not as energetic as the Gaslamp District, but perfect for someone seeking a little solitude but still desiring to be in the mix. Airport noise not an issue. Freeway/traffic noise also not an issue. Safety not an issue. I had a great time here and I didn't want to leave! I hope to visit again. ”
“This was our first time staying at this hotel. Overall the experience was good, due to price and location. Centrally located in downtown San Diego in Little Italy. This is an older building that has been renovated for a hotel. Make sure you verify the type of room you are getting, some do have shared bathrooms. We had a two bedroom two bath room located on the bottom floor. Beds were comfy. Had kind of a strange layout the twin bed and bathroom had its own door for privacy but the king bed was wide open to the whole area so not much privacy of staying with kids. Place needed a little maintenance or bathroom door was coming off the hinge, the toilet was loose, and they forgot to cut the opening for the exhaust fan in the main bathroom through the ceiling. There is not a standard desk at this location most things are done via text and emails. There is staff there for certain hours to help with any questions or concerns. The gentleman that work the evening shift was great and very helpful. If you want to be pampered this is probably not the place for you. If you want to have a easy location with plenty of walkability and a price that won't break the bank this place is for you.”
“It was my first time in San Diego & I stayed at Hotel Zindel! I really enjoyed my stay here, the location was so good, super close to so many restaurants and bars. The beds were huge and very comfy too. Special mention about the daily amenities, a selection of breakfast bits like oats and yogurt as well as some energy drinks and cakes which is perfect when you want to go straight out in the morning and explore. I would definitely stay here again - thank you”
“had a wonderful 2-night stay! The hotel has a fresh feel with new renovation, and Lyn and the team here is genuinely friendly and helpful. When I had a noise issue with my first room, the staff responded promptly and moved me to a new one right away, which I really appreciated. The location is also fantastic—super convenient for getting around. Overall, a great experience and I’d happily stay again!”
“We really enjoyed Hotel Zindel. Nestled just a few blocks away from the heart of little Italy, the walkability is pretty amazing. The waterfront is nearby, little Italy, even Balboa is a walkable spot. The hotel had a great common room with snacks and a pool table. Complimentary waters were clutch. And the rooms were cute, spacious, and had nice amenities like a kitchenette (mini fridge, sink, utensils, coffee). We'd definitely come back. Looking forward to our next trip”
“I stayed at Hotel Zindel in Little Italy for a staycation and honestly it exceeded my expectations in the best way. The location alone is unbeatable — you're steps away from some of the best restaurants in San Diego, the waterfront is a short walk, and the Little Italy Mercato Farmers Market is basically at your front door on Saturdays! The hotel itself has this really cool boutique feel that you don't get at a big chain. Everything is contactless — keyless entry, virtual concierge available 24/7 via text — which sounds small but makes the whole experience feel so seamless. My personal concierge was Brooklyn and she was extremely attentive! The room was clean, thoughtfully designed, and had everything I needed including a coffee maker which I used immediately every morning. If you're visiting San Diego and want to actually feel like you're in the city rather than stuck in a generic hotel, this is the move. Close to the airport and close to EVERYTHING.”
